Technical Trainer - Electrical x2 - Oxfordshire

Whether it’s leading the development of cutting-edge new technology, revolutionising our production systems or guiding capital investments they are involved, working alongside their industry partners to improve performance.

In pursuit of their aim to support the growth of UK manufacturing they run 2 training academies providing full time education from BTEC Level 2 up to HNC level 4 supporting the next generation of engineers as they enter the industry.

Joining them as a technical trainer you would be responsible for the delivery of both classroom and workshop-based learning delivering theoretical knowledge and practical competencies within your area of expertise. Delivery will take place both face to face and virtually and cover subjects including PLC programming, Robotics, Motor Control, Panel wiring, Panel Building Electrical Principles, Maths and Electrical Science.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Delivering effective training that supports the development of independent learners and see’s apprentices progress to successful completion of their qualifications.
  • Being responsive to learners needs, developing different ways of working and monitoring and adapting training delivery methods as required
  • You will be the electrical lead for your specialism (either industrial electrical control and/or PLC’s and Robotics)
  • Accurate reporting of attendance, assessment, and examination results
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings and student performance reviews
  • Ensure your students have individual learning plans outlining their strengths, weaknesses, areas for development and targets

To carry out this role they are seeking a qualified electrical engineer who is passionate about learner achievement and passing on their experience to apprentice engineers.

Key experience and knowledge required includes:

  • HNC or equivalent engineering qualification and GCSEs at Grade C or equivalent in maths and English
  • A teaching qualification such as PTLLS, DTLLS, PGCE or equivalent
  • Assessor qualifications such as TAQA level 3 and internal verifier qualifications are also desirable but not essential
  • 18th edition – essential if recruited as the specialist for Industrial electrical controls only
  • Prior experience delivering training solutions to the engineering sector ideally at an apprentice level
  • Expert knowledge of Electrical and Electronics, Industrial Electrical Controls, PLC and Robotics
  • IT literate with strong communication and presentation skills.
