R&D Project Leader - South East, England

This role comes to market from a global leader in the design and manufacture of electromechanical products as well as class I and II medical devices. Growing through both acquisition and their own continued investment in new technology they are offering an experienced project manager the chance to work across a broad range of projects including support of business sustainability projects, operational improvements and supporting R&D with New Product Development.

Initially your focus will be on leading the successful integration of a recent Merger and Acquisition that includes a large portfolio of Intellectual property that needs to be transferred and maintained. This is the businesses first acquisition in recent years and represents a multi-million-pound investment so will have the attention of senior management. This project is expected to be your sole focus for the first 6-7 months at which point as the project stabilises you will look to manage additional projects within the organisation. Working as part of the project management team you will typically manage 2-4 projects at anyone time dependent on size.

This is a key role for the organisation and applications are open to experienced project managers with the following skills/experience:

  • A professional project manager ideally holding a project management certification I.e. Prince 2, PMI or PMP
  • Experience working in a regulated engineering environment such as medical devices, Oil & Gas, Automotive or Aerospace
  • Experience leading projects related to organisational performance, R&D, NPD, NPI, Quality Assurance or business improvement / change
  • Prior experience supporting Merger & Acquisition projects including an appreciation of their legal impact and the requirements for transfer of intellectual property
  • A business minded professional with strong operational and commercial skills. A management degree or MBA would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
  • A proven track record implementing project management controls and mitigating risk for successful project delivery in line with targets for quality, cost and time.
  • Any experience with injection moulded products, single use devices, plastics or products produced in a sterile / clean room environment is a plus but not essential.
