This rewarding role comes to market from a global leader in the design and manufacture of electromechanical products as well as class I and II medical devices. This role would sit within their UK R&D team and see you responsible for full lifecycle mechanical design and development of both new product development and improvements to the existing product range with focus on design for the management of fluids. A varied role with good career prospects your responsibilities will include:

  • Technical research and competitor analysis to aid innovative and competitive design
  • Developing ideas that may lead to patents or registered designs
  • Assist with proposals for new technology development
  • Develop detailed designs from initial concept through to design for manufacture, DFM including generation of 3D CAD models and drawings
  • Complete tolerance analysis using FEA and CFD tools, complete risk analysis, design reviews and FMEA’s
  • Supervise prototype and initial production builds
  • Product costing and sourcing of required components
  • Create and maintain product definitions and all technical documentation required for design control procedures
  • Support the verification and validation of product designs before successfully transferring them to production

To carry out this creative design role they are seeking a qualified mechanical engineer, who is degree or HNC/HND certified with a proven track record of product design within a regulated environment.

You will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles as well as knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials. Experience working in a sterilised, clean room environment will be of benefit as you bring to market single use medical products as would any experience in fluid analysis or working with plastic and polymer materials.
