Engineering Manager – Structural Chassis and Sub-frames - Warwickshire

This established name in the British Vehicle Sector has a strong history in the UK and continues to invest and move forward. Over the last few years, they have expanded their facility, grown the engineering team, invested in next generation vehicles, and continued to pursue additional market share globally.

Current projects include a focus on vehicle electrification, diversification of their vehicle range and further geographical expansion with a current focus on the North American Markets.

Amidst this continued growth they are seeking an experienced engineering manager to lead their chassis team. This is a 1st line management role leading a design team of 11 engineers and maintains a strong technical focus. The chassis team are responsible for the entire structural chassis design as well as subframe, suspension, steering, braking and wheels.

Your role will have 3 key focuses

  • People management: leading a dedicated team of engineers from graduates to those with significant industry experience you will be responsible for managing your team’s workload as well supporting and guiding their continued development and encouraging their performance.
  • Technical Ownership: You will have full responsibility for chassis design and development overseeing projects from early concept through to production and after market support. This will include approving designs, technical problem solving and issue resolution.
  • Process Improvement: You will encourage the use of processes including DFMEA, DVP and tools aligned with Six Sigma to drive best practice and continuous improvement.

To carry out this role they are seeking a degree educated engineer with a strong track record in the design and development of chassis, subframe or suspension systems. Previous leadership and man-management experience is also key as is knowledge of DFMEA and DVP. If you are six sigma trained or green/black belt certified this will be of significant benefit but is not essential.
