This opportunity comes to market from a global business specialising in the design and manufacture of electro-mechanical products for the medical device sector. Due to a significant number of NPD projects underway within R&D currently they seek an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join them.

In this role you will contribute to the design, development and introduction of electronics and embedded software related to mechatronic products. This will include full lifecycle design, creating and maintaining technical documentation and use of software analysis tools such as Matlab & Simulink to ensure robust designs. This will be a high level software role focused on integration with mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.

The skills/experience they require for this project includes:

  • Degree educated in software engineering, computer science or similar with a strong emphasis on embedded electronics
  • Circa 7-10 years industry experience in the design of software for mechatronic systems with a strong understanding of the interactions between mechanics electronics and software in respect to real time control and dynamics
  • Expert user of model-based design tools such as Simscape, Mathcad & Simulink
  • A working knowledge of the V-cycle including software validation and verification
  • Design of digital controllers to optimally control simulation and realisation of controller algorithms on 32-bit microcontrollers in hardware and C code using Matlab/Simulink embedded coders

Further experience sought includes design of life safety-critical software, design of BLDC 3 phase motor control algorithms, implementation of digital control system design and programming of various microcontrollers.
