This role comes to market from a world leader in specialist machinery for the waste sector. Their East Midlands facility is a bustling site, home to manufacturing and service teams alongside a small R&D team.

Joining them as Electrical Design Engineer you will find yourself working on a project basis in a fast-paced environment. Designs are often bespoke to meet customer applications and as such the work is highly varied.

Day to day you will work on the design of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control systems using AutoCAD 2D to produce schematic drawings of control systems. You will also produce PLC programmes using software such as Mitsubishi, IFM and codesys as well as programming software for HMI screens. This is a hands-on role based in the design office but will also see you involved on the production floor as you support problem solving, produce risk assessments and communicate engineering changes.

Key skills & Experience Required includes:

  • HNC/HND or Degree certified in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years industry experience in Electrical Design ideally within special purpose machinery, yellow goods, Automotive or material handling equipment.
  • Experience in electrical schematic design
  • Strong 2D CAD skills using AutoCAD or similar
  • Experience in PLC programming using Codesys or similar Software such as Mitsubishi or IFM
  • Knowledge of CE marking and Machinery Directive requirements
  • Knowledge of CANbus control systems
  • An appreciation of Hydraulic and Pneumatic engineering principals alongside moving mechanisms and their control systems.
  • Experience in the design and manufacture of control looms
